The Singapore Flag.
1 Crescent Moon, 5 stars.
The national flag of Singapore was first adopted in 1959, the year Singapore became self-governing within the British Empire. It was reconfirmed as the national flag when the Republic gained independence on 9 August 1965. The design is a horizontal bi-colour of red above white, charged in the canton by a white crescent moon facing, toward the fly, a pentagon of five small white five-pointed stars. The elements of the flag denote a young nation on the ascendant, universal brotherhood and equality, and national ideals.
i love the way national flags really capture the essence of the people they represent. they should be treated with much reverence and hopefully understood and appreciated by citizens and guests alike
You caught this at just the right fraction of a second when the flag was almost completely straightened out. How’d you manage that? It almost looks starched! (Or was it?) The red and white make a great splash of color on that pure blue sky though.

Very striking and dramatic – and thanks for the background info too!
That is so simple and very effective.
Very nice entry to just focus on one flag and give it all the focus it needs. Thanks for the information.
