A pipe with wire barbs. No edits done to it.
What are your thoughts when you see it?

I hear SpiderMan whining at the back of my head.

I like the shadows and the textures… the interesting wraparound of sharp barbs around a smooth surface is a great subject to an awesome photo! Well done.

  3. August 10, 2008 at 5:05 pm

I see three distinct textures: the smooth pipe, the rough wall, and the jagged barbs. Nicely done. Come and tell me what you think of mine. 😀

Interesting shadows add to the textures … nice composition

It looks like it could be a live creature, crawling up the pipe with a rather strange series of protective barbs growing out of its skin. Good work!

I love black and whites. Barbwire is very different. I love barbwire, cause you can manipulate it into different creative things. Good job!

    Awwww… poor Romeo. 🙂

Great capture – I love b/w effects and the textures in your photo.

    Good luck! ♥

I like the starkness of the photo because it is done in black and white. I also like the different textures.

    Good luck in the contest!

Black and white was a good choice, unless it was a colorful building it wouldn’t have worked out. 🙂

Thats wicked looking Elaine! Nice job, thank you for your Creative Photography submission! 😀

Really interesting photo. The subject matter is intriguing. Why wrap barbed wire around a pipe like that. Then all the lines and textures and shadows are interesting as well – how one side of the pipe is smooth and the other has a cracked texture to the paint. Cool shot.

First think, I said out loud “Oooo!” They it looks dangerous and violent. It could be the photo for an the horrors of terrorism or Darfur or any one of the horrible things that happen in the world. And the pic HAS to be in B&W! Elaine, a fantastic photo! 🙂

You wonder if his a new man-made species: Iron Barbed Ivy (with no known predators…)

  18. August 13, 2008 at 9:47 pm

I wonder what is up there that requires a pipe to be wrapped in barb wire!

I will confess to thinking that barb wire is one of the ugliest things in the world. But you made it intriguing. I love the shadows.
