That is the Torch Ginger flower from the ginger family, but more commonly known as the kantan flowers. It can be used in cooking of assam pedas and some other malay dishes too but the flower must be still in bud. Once it’s open like this , can’t be eaten anymore. Oh another one dish is the chinese rojak.
